Hope Lundmark: I know your dog hates bath's but to get rid of that many flea's you are going to have to bath him with some sort of flea and tick shampoo. But for a quick fix in the mean time put him in the bath and cover him with some sort of Conditioner and leave it on for ten minutes. That will suffocate the fleas. That is just a quick fix until you can get some flea shampoo and bath him because it will not kill the eggs already laied. Go buy a flea collar. They work great! people just don't buy them very much anymore because there are so many more things out there to do for flea's. Once you get the flea population under control you can look at other alternative's but I will tell you the cheaper the medication the less it is going to work. I hope this helps....Show more

Cliff Tyre: Flea shampoo will only work the day ! you give the bath. You can also bath with Dawn or Lemon Joy, t! hat will get rid of the fleas, but for that day only. And the soaps won't kill the flea eggs that may hatch later.You need to use a flea control product like Frontline, Revolution, Advantage, etc. Pet Armor is newer and much less expensive. She thinks that the dog, or the monkey (she did have a monkey), or whatever she has will give her more attention and that is a positive. The girl was completely exasperated and said in! an astounded voice, "OMG, do all dogs act like this?!" Yes, honey they do; that is how healthy puppies act. One problem is the media and fashion industry hyping dogs as accessories (Thank you, Project Runway!) rather than animal companions. The other problem is lax parents who allow their daughters to buy into the trend and will buy them a $2500 yorkie puppy that will be carried like a doll until the next trend sweeps through. I had a co-worker tell me that she was looking for a tiny breed puppy for her daughter to carry around. The daughter was 8. What a good mother. When did society "become" shallow? Our mothers and grandmothers were not allowed to vote because they were women, and were legally considered property. Danica Timperman: with any animal when they are first introduced to a new animal they can be defensive. I've grown up with a variety of dog breeds with cats and they all seem to get along with the cats. The labs and austrailian shepards are fine with them. I've also noticed that smaller dog breeds get along very well with cats. I have 2 chihuahuas and a tibetian spaniel and they actually play with the cats. His prime defense is taken away now and that makes him more nervous and scared of dogs.Terriers usually are not the best type of dog to get as they do like to chase cats a lot and your cat doesn't need that kind of stress (especially being declawed).You might look for a larger dog that is good with cats (labs, golden retriever, etc - most larger field type dogs are best). Nikki Sypult: try paying a visit to your local vet and get the confurti! s (spelling?) it works wonders. Also start using the "Cowboy Magic" brand of shampoo..it's actually made for horses but where I work the groomers use it on all of the dogs and it is the best thing we have ever used. It is NOT harmful to them and it doesn't irritate their skin. It's truly amazing.
