Some! r Distilo: Both Shepherds and Husky's are of good size. It's give and take. The standard of a German Shepherd is: Ranging in size from 22 to 26 inches tall at the shoulder. (AKC standard)The standard of a Siberian Husky: Ranging in size from 20 to 23 ½ inches tall at the shoulder and 35 to 60 pounds. (AKC standard) I'm taking a guess at this, but I would suspect somewhere around 20-23 inches at the shoulders and about 60-70 lbs. Sharron Salin: Yes, chocolate is harmful, especially to dogs.Theobromine (found in chocolate) is poisonous to dogs.Check this answer out:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=100604...
Rose Krouse: A small piece of chocolate may not make any visible impact on dogs unless of course the animal eats something else while 'high' on chocolate. However, large doses of chocolate may m! ake the dogâs system purge the theobromine that is damaging ! to the animal. Apart from crying the dog may vomit and may have diarrhea also. Other symptoms of large doses of chocolates are increased urination in the animal and muscle twitching and excessive panting. However, the dog may not die from these symptoms. They are just warning signals. If one ignores those symptoms and does not take the animal to a vet eventually its heart may beat too fast and can give out. This is especially so in older dogs. Usually the increased heartbeat may follow the initial symptoms, when the excessive theobromine gets absorbed into the blood stream. Hopefully now you know why chocolates are not meant for dogs. It could kill the poor animal, put it in a comma, or cause seizures. Be careful!! The two animals that are greatly affected by theobromine are dogs and horses. Theobromine acts as a boost in horses and as such is a banned substance in horse racing. Unlike dogs, horses can put up with a higher quantity of chocolate since it is a bigger animal. ! Lizzette Wendroth: On Average, the German Shepherd is bigger than the Siberian by about 20 lbs.(Breed standard calls for the shepherd to be 70-90 lbs and siberians from about 55-70) However, german shepherd is smaller than the siberian husky's big brother, the alaskan malamute...by about 20 pounds.(Alaskan ! Barrett Zheng: Explain to them, and show them, why you think it would be a good idea for you to get one. Do some more research on the breed and right out a few good reasons why a Chihuahua should be added to your family. On a side note, if you do eventually persuade them to let you have one, please do consider adopting a rescue dog. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of breed-specific dog rescues out there, so you should be able to find a suitable Chihuahua in a rescue somewhere, and there are usually far more pros to this idea than there are cons. Hilma Pestano: DOGS AND CHOCOLATE DangerGive chocolate to loved ones, and you could end up poisoning them. That is, if the loved one is your pet dog.Even small amounts of Theo bromine, an ingredient in chocolate, can cause vomiting and restlessness in pets. Larger doses can be fatal. While most pet owners expect a dog to develop an upset stomach after eating a large amount of chocolate, few realize its danger or toxic potential. The lethal dose of Theo bromine depends on the size of the dog and the type of chocolate. Ounce for ounce, baking chocolate has six to nine times as much of the substance as milk chocolate does.Estimates of the smallest amounts that can be fatal are:4 ounces of milk chocolate or 1/2 ounce of baking chocolate for small dogs, such as Chihuahuas and toy poodles.8 ounces of milk chocolate or 2 ounces of baking chocolate for medium-sized dogs, like cocker spaniels and dachshunds.8 ounces of milk chocolate or 4 ounces of baking chocola! te for large dogs, including collies and Labrador retrievers.Cats have much different eating habits and seldom are poisoned by chocolate. While a very small amount of chocolate may not harm some dogs, it's safest to avoid giving it to them at all. If an accident occurs, a veterinarian should be consulted. Treatment may require inducing vomiting, stabilizing the animal's heartbeat and respiration, controlling seizures and slowing the absorption of Theo bromine. If the animal already is comatose, its stomach may need to be pumped.Theo bromine does not completely leave the dogs system, as do some foods, my research informs me that Theo Bromine has a half life of 17.5 hours. This means that half of it has gone in 17.5 hours; in 35 hours another half of the half that was remaining will have gone. We can go on and on forever and ever getting less and less, to be silly about it, it never gets to zero! There always has to be something left for there to be a half of something. Its lik! e a radio wave/signal travelling into space, it will reduce by half ove! r a given distance, it repeats this time and again, but it never gets to zero. Trying to find it after a time will be difficult then imposssible of course, as with Theo bromine. So we have a time factor to consider also apart from a safe amount. The Theo bromine in other sweets and biscuits, cakes, coated in chocolate or with chocolate chips etc. will be less of course, but its wise to avoid all these things.Health food shops stock, none chocolate choc drops for humans; I am told these are fine, but, its good practise to ask for the ingredient list to check for Theo bromine and then ask your VET. And remember ingredients can change without notice....Show more

Raleigh Lufkin: Scroll down to the end if you want the quick answer. But here is the full explanat! ion. The ingredient in chocolate that is harmful to dogs is called theobromine. It belongs to the same class of compounds that caffeine does. It has been used by the medical community as a heart stimulant and a vasodilator (widens the blood vessels) for humans. Theobromine is metabolized quickly by humans but very slowly by dogs and cats. Research has shown it can stay in a dog's bloodstream for a much as 30 hours. Because of this, they are prone to theobromine poisoning should they eat it. Symptoms of theobromine poisoning are increased urination, vomiting, nausea, restlessness, loss of appetite, and diarrhea. Since cats don't have the ability to taste sweets, they are less prone to theobromine poisoning. Dark chocolate and baking chocolate have the most amount of theobromine. White and milk chocolate have far less. According to http://www.transportcafe.co.uk/dogchocolate.html, as little as 4 ounces of milk chocolate or 1/2 ounce of baking chocolate can be fatal for small ! dogs like chihuahuas and toy poodles. The amount that is fatal depends ! on the size of the dog and the type of chocolate eaten. General rule ... if you have chocolate, put it away after you are finished eating. Don't leave it lying around for your pooch to be tempted by. And certainly don't purposefully feed it to them!Hope this helps! = )...Show more

Bob Nakamoto: Chocolate contains a chemical called Theobromine. This is the part of the chocolate that gives you a craving for chocolate and can give some people a "High" or a "chocolate rush".It is metabolised in the liver and, because some animals, especially dogs, cannot remove it from their bloodstream quickly they can suffer theobromine poisoning.
Chris Coggins: Good mix! That puppy must be cute. A male German Shepard ! is usually 24 to 26 inches tall, and a male Siberian Husky is usually 21 to 24 inches tall. So it could be about 21 to 26 inches tall if it is male, of course.

Patricia Bolduc: You are setting your dog up for kidney faliure, heart attack and many other problems. Just because he is showing no outward ! signs as yet slowly it's killing him. Some dogs it affects right away, ! normally smaller dogs unless it's in huge amounts, but what you are doing is condeming him to a slow and painful death. The theobromine in chocolate is toxic to all dogs not just some. You need to stop giving your dog chocolate NOW and hopefully not too much damage has been done....Show more
