Newer cars have better technology and are usually more comfortable to drive but come with a higher price tag. If you do not plan on driving a lot of miles the older vehicle could be your best fit.
Efren Clankscales: No I do not. I recently had a friend die in a crash in a 1998 Cavalier. Newer cars are MUCH safer. My neighbor recently totaled his 201! 1 Dodge Journey in a crash MUCH more sever than the one the Ca! valier was in, but my neighbor walked away with only minor bruises. Traffic fatalities have been steadily decreasing despite the fact that the number of cars on the road are increasing. A 2010 Jetta is a very safe vehicle. The Land Rover is not. Dorris Homola: The newest car in my stable is a 97 RX-7 and the one I have owned the longest is a 1975 Ford F100. There are two others (90 Miata's). So while I might buy a car as new as 96 (the last technological advance that was worth the money in car development until Fords direct injection), new cars just do not appeal to me either.

Something rea! lly minor can completely disable your vehicle in newer cars.Older cars are cheaper to buy and insure.If you get one in decent shape they are usually cheaper to repair than to make payments on a new car.They are often easier to find used parts for, or cheaper aftermarket parts.They have fewer annoying "features".If it's damaged in an accident or parking lot dings (or off-roading if you have a Defender) you're usually less worried about it....Show more
